SHIPPING, CUSTOMS, DUTY & TARIFFS

We ship worldwide from Auckland, New Zealand. Here's what to expect once your order leaves us.

The paperwork we'll ask you for

Most shipments clear without you doing anything. Some don't, and the courier will contact you directly. The usual ones:

  • FedEx form 5106 (USA imports) - a one-off importer identification form. FedEx emails it to you. Until you submit it, your order sits in a warehouse.
  • A customs form via DocuSign - check your spam folder if you can't find it.
  • Proof of value or an itemised invoice - email us and we'll send it.

If a courier asks you for something, do it straight away. Nothing delays a canopy like an unsubmitted form. If a link won't open or the email never arrived, tell us and we'll resend it.

The HS code

Parachutes and parts (including canopy lines) are HS 8804 (followed by the country code e.g. US is 00.00). If your broker or customs office is stuck, give them this. It often unblocks things on its own.

Duty, tax and tariffs

You are the importer. Duty, GST/VAT and any tariffs are your responsibility, not ours, and they're charged on top of what you paid us. The courier collects them before delivery.

United States: since April 2025, additional tariffs have been added to all imports from New Zealand. Currently, the tariff and duty rate is 15.5%. However, it's important to note that this can vary.

Everywhere else: rates vary by country and change without much notice. Check with your local customs office before you order if it matters to your budget. We can't quote them for you.

Countries we can't ship to

We don't ship to Russia due to the strict sanctions in place. We can't ship to PO Boxes.

The value declared on your shipment

This will match the total price you paid for your order. Our obligation when shipping is to provide accurate descriptions and values of goods contained in the shipment. This is a legal requirement for us as a commercial, international exporter. Declaring an inaccurate description and value is customs fraud. This can lead to prosecution and fines for us the exporter, as well as confiscation and destruction of the inaccurately declared shipments. Sounds harsh, but them's the rules.

Returns and repairs coming back to us

Declare the package as 'goods not sold-return to manufacturer' with a low value. That's what works. A repair declared as a commercial sale can get held or taxed on the way in. Please make sure to notify sales@jyro.com if you are shipping your canopy to us - a random canopy turning up at our door with no labelling is virtually impossible for us to follow up on.

If your canopy is stuck in customs

Email sales@jyro.com with your order number and tracking number. Tell us what the courier or customs has asked for. We'll send whatever paperwork is needed from our end, usually the same day, allowing for the fact that we're in New Zealand and probably asleep when you write.
